Heavy duty monitoring

See extrusion deviations while printing

Bring live camera and sensor data into your printing workflow. Compare the observed extrusion width with job settings and give operators alerts when deposition moves outside the expected range.

Visibility into the deposition process

Live process observation

  • Camera view near the extrusion head
  • Real-time sensor data through a dedicated gateway
  • Process information alongside the print job

Extrusion geometry

  • ToF-based observation of deposited bead geometry
  • Measured width compared with expected settings
  • Calibration for the material and machine setup

Operator alerts

  • Configurable acceptable width range
  • Notifications when measured values deviate
  • Information to support timely operator intervention

Connect preparation with live execution

  1. 1

    Set the expected deposition

Use the job's extrusion width and configure an acceptable deviation range for the process.

  2. 2

    Observe and compare

A dedicated camera and sensor gateway streams measurements to the application for comparison during printing.

  3. 3

    Notify the operator

When the width moves outside the configured range, the application presents an alert so the operator can assess the process and decide how to respond.

Demonstrated in cement printing

From toolpaths to process feedback

Trials at Mendes & Rodrigues brought together toolpath generation, execution on Fagor equipment, live monitoring and extrusion-width alerts.

The demonstration connected the digital print job to the physical deposition process, giving the operator feedback while the machine was running.

Measurement precision still requires calibration and refinement for each setup. Further validation on the final machine is needed as the system progresses toward industrial deployment.

FAQ

Does monitoring adjust the printer automatically?

The current implementation measures deviations and alerts the operator. The operator decides whether to adjust settings, stop the print or continue.

Is measurement accuracy guaranteed?

Accuracy depends on calibration, sensor placement, material behavior and machine geometry. The demonstrated system requires further refinement for each installation.
